Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey I used 85/15 ground beef
- 16 oz marinara sauce
- 1 diced green bell pepper
- ¾ cup sliced mushrooms
- ¼ cup sliced black olives optional
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¾ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 12-15 slices small turkey pepperoni or regular pepperoni or 5-10 large
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground turkey or beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add bell pepper and mushrooms and cook 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
- Stir in Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in the marinara and stir to combine. Simmer 2 minutes.
Assemble the casserole:
- Transfer mixture to an 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish.
- Top with mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni slices.
- Bake 18-22 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly with lightly browned edges.
- Let cool 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with a simple side salad or roasted veggies.
